Job Summary:
The Senior I&C Technician is a key technical expert responsible for the advanced maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of complex instrumentation and control systems. This role provides leadership in diagnosing system issues, implementing improvements, mentoring junior technicians, and ensuring high standards of operational reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance in industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the installation, configuration, calibration, and maintenance of advanced instrumentation and control systems including transmitters, analysers, control valves, PLCs, DCS, and SCADA systems.
- Troubleshoot complex system issues and provide root cause analysis for instrumentation and control failures.
- Mentor and train junior I&C staff, providing technical guidance and support.
- Participate in the design, upgrade, and commissioning of I&C systems, including control logic programming and loop tuning.
- Ensure documentation is updated and maintained, including calibration records, logic diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Operations to support process improvements and system optimization initiatives.
- Act as a subject matter expert for safety systems and regulatory compliance related to I&C.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for system upgrades and third-party support.
Required Skillset:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with instrumentation and control systems in an industrial environment.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and programming PLCs/DCS systems (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Emerson DeltaV).
- In-depth knowledge of instrumentation principles, process control strategies, and automation technologies.
- Strong understanding of loop tuning, signal processing, and communication protocols (e.g., HART, Modbus, Foundation Fieldbus).
- Excellent ability to interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
Qualifications:
- Craft certificate in Instrumentation, Electrical Instrumentation or Electrical.

- A bachelor's degree or equivalent in electronic engineering, electrical engineering or instrumentation and applied physics.
Working Conditions:
- May involve working in outdoor or hazardous environments.
- Required to wear PPE and follow safety procedures.
