Job description:
Category Manager Plant
12 month FTC, Hybrid working.
Role Profile
Reporting to the Head of Category, the Plant Category Manager is the P&L owner and responsible for the commercial profitability of the products within the category. The role develops and delivers the strategy and increases business size and product profitability — the core KPIs.
This role requires effective cross‑functional collaboration to deliver success, including directing product innovation, driving customer acquisition, leading investment strategy, supporting in‑market sales teams, and making balanced supply planning decisions.
Responsibilities

Execute the current Plant strategy in line with the overall ingredients category goals, ensuring an optimum mix of products.
Deliver commercial targets across the Oats portfolio to maximize production capacity.
Bring investment strategies to life by ensuring the correct projects and business cases are in place.
Drive product returns across the category; manage product contribution.
Collaborate with sales, finance, Agri‑business, and planning to balance budget and forecast requirements during the monthly S&OP cycle (S&OP owner).
Develop the new opportunities pipeline with the commercial team, aligning strategic plan execution and setting business‑development targets with market‑facing sales teams.
Work closely with marketing to build the go‑to‑market story, linking USPs to customer needs; participate in industry trade shows, webinars, conferences, and government‑led trade missions.
Drive product growth by aligning R&D and cross‑functional colleagues to bring new products and applications to market.
Support pricing decisions for sales teams, long‑term price forecasting, and setting minimum pricing for new or enhanced products.
Manage new, value‑add product introductions, including change management, collateral development, product concepts and applications, and ownership of strategy development.

Requirements

Strong leadership skills, business acumen, and the ability to develop strategic plans.
Proven communication, collaboration, and decision‑making abilities.
Intimate knowledge of the product and understanding of markets and customers.
Ability to lead and direct a cross‑functional group of peers.
Experience creating and presenting business plans for investments, and communicating effectively to leadership teams and stakeholders.
Strong commercial/business development acumen and financial understanding.
Strategic thinking and the ability to articulate long‑term vision.
