Job Opportunity: Chef – Sisters of Mercy, Kilkenny
We are currently seeking a dedicated and reliable Chef to join our team at Sisters of Mercy in Kilkenny. This is a Full-time position on a 6–12 month contract, working on a rotating schedule.
Hours and Schedule:
Week 1: 9 hours over 3 days
Week 2: 12 hours over 4 days
Rate: €13.50 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook meals to company and client standards
Maintain food safety and hygiene in line with HACCP regulations
Ensure cleanliness and organisation of kitchen and storage areas
Follow allergen and labelling procedures
Maintain kitchen records and temperature logs
Support special functions as required (e.g., funerals, celebrations)
Assist with training new team members
Follow end-of-day and health & safety procedures
Requirements:
Experience in a professional kitchen environment
Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and allergen protocols
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Good organisational skills and attention to detail
Willingness to participate in company training and flexible to meet operational needs
