Commercial Lead

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Lead to join our team and play a key role in the commercial success of our projects.
The Role
This is a unique opportunity to take on a challenging role and lead the commercial aspects of our projects. As Commercial Lead, you will oversee all quantity surveying aspects from pre-construction through to final account. You will be responsible for preparing and managing project budgets, cost plans, and valuations, as well as leading the procurement process including subcontractor selection, contract negotiations, and management. Additionally, you will manage project variations, change orders, and ensure timely agreement of accounts. Your expertise will also be required to produce accurate monthly cost reports and forecasts, provide commercial guidance and leadership to junior staff, and liaise with clients, subcontractors, and project teams to ensure financial targets and project timelines are achieved.
You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with contract terms, conditions, and statutory requirements, as well as supporting risk management processes and contract administration. To be successful in this role, you will need a degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related field, and at least 8 years of experience in quantity surveying, with a strong background in civil engineering or infrastructure projects. You will also need proven experience managing the full commercial cycle of medium to large-scale projects. Your analytical, reporting, and negotiation skills should be excellent, and you should be proficient in relevant software including Microsoft Office and cost management tools. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively are essential. Self-motivation and the capability to manage workload independently while supporting wider project goals are also necessary.
