The Site Engineer plays a key role in the successful delivery of building projects, supporting site operations, quality control, setting out, and coordination.
Junior Site Engineer: Focuses on learning technical and site processes while supporting daily engineering tasks.
Intermediate Site Engineer: Takes responsibility for defined project sections, performing technical and coordination duties with increasing independence.
Qualifications & Experience Junior Site Engineer Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related field.
0-2 years' experience (placements or site work an advantage).
Training provided; suitable for graduates.
Intermediate Site Engineer Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
Typically 2-5 years' experience with a main contractor.
Proven experience in setting out, QA, and managing site engineering tasks independently.
Key Responsibilities Junior Site Engineer Assist with setting out, surveying, and site measurements under supervision.
Support the implementation of works packages, ensuring work is carried out according to drawings and specifications.
Maintain site records including daily logs, photos, and quality checklists.
Help coordinate subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring smooth workflow.
Participate in quality assurance checks, ensuring compliance with BCAR and company procedures.
Support health & safety by reporting hazards and assisting with toolbox talks.
Assist with material take-offs and monitoring deliveries.
Read and interpret basic construction drawings and help flag discrepancies to senior staff.
Learn site management processes, engineering methods, and Irish construction standards.
Site Engineer Take ownership of setting out, levels, and dimensional control for allocated areas of the project.
Ensure works are carried out in line with technical specifications, drawings, BCAR requirements, and building regulations.
Coordinate day-to-day site activities with subcontractors, resolving technical queries efficiently.
Lead quality inspections and complete ITPs, checklists, as-built records, and reports.
Manage document control including RFI submissions, design updates, and drawing revisions.
Monitor progress against programme and report to the Senior Engineer/PM.
Assist in planning short-term works, sequencing, and logistics.
Contribute to site safety management by conducting checks, observations, and supporting method statement reviews.
Liaise with design teams to ensure accurate interpretation of drawings and support value engineering solutions.
Mentor junior team members where required.
