Civil Project Engineer | Dundalk
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team to bring water and wastewater projects from initial design, through to completion and handover to the client. The role supports the project manager and contracts manager in daily operations and delivery, while you develop a specialised knowledge base within a one‑team culture.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Work as part of a team on one or more projects, embracing a "one team" culture.
Ensure Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards, policies and procedures are adhered to on site.
Be familiar with the HSQE management system and statutory requirements.
Provide coverage and manage day‑to‑day site operations if the project manager is absent.
Understand programme, budgets and the impact of overruns on the project.
Review and develop specifications and design drawings, and devise solutions to design‑based issues.
Use GPS, total station and 3D scanner for setting out and collecting as‑built information.
Complete technical reports, quality documentation, safety files, O&M and monthly progress reports.
Ensure design, materials and workmanship meet specified requirements.
Use procurement software to order and award materials and subcontracts as required.
Liaise with consultants, subcontractors, site staff, commercial resources and the general site team.
Facilitate weekly whiteboard meetings, planning efficient and safe delivery of works.
Interact with employer representatives, stakeholders and the public.
Keep up to date with latest standards and technology through continuous professional development (CPD).
Mentor and train junior staff, showing eagerness to learn and progress your own career.
Perform other duties as required from time to time.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in water and wastewater.
Degree in Civil Engineering.
Interest in developing a career within an industry‑leading organisation.
Team‑working and input at project meetings.
Engage suppliers and subcontractors during procurement and contract delivery.
Initiative, problem‑solving and adaptability during project delivery.
Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Proficient with GPS, total station and CAD.
Strong communication skills and high motivation.
Full driving licence.
