Job Description:
* Promote environmentally responsible practices and share knowledge to improve performance.
* Develop and implement environmental strategies, plans, and processes in support of sustainability objectives.
* Provide health and safety requirements and progress reports to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability matters.
* Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures related to environment, health, and safety.
* Support regular reporting, site inspections, monitoring operational functions, and service delivery to ensure controls are implemented according to company requirements.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage projects to ensure successful implementation in terms of environment and sustainability.
2. Collaborate with stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, clients, and project teams, to ensure E&S considerations are integrated into project planning and execution.
3. Ensure projects comply with environmental legislation, consents, permits, licenses, objectives, targets, and other company environmental commitments.
4. Prepare and submit amendments to project consents/permits/licenses as necessary.
5. Plan resources accordingly to meet future project demands.
6. Support business development activities to ensure environmental compliance and sustainability are effectively considered and costed.
7. Conduct environmental inductions, training, toolbox talks, and emergency simulations for all staff involved in project activities.
8. Assist in the development of emergency and safety procedures and train staff in spillage control equipment usage and communication.
9. Promote a positive environmental culture through proactive engagement and communications with project teams.
10. Implement corrective actions to ensure compliance with regulations and legislation.
11. Monitor the performance of environmental advisors, ecological consulting works, environmental management representatives, and sustainability coordinators.
12. Produce, review, and update project management plans, including construction environmental management plans and sustainability action plans.
13. Collaborate in the review and approval process of relevant documents, such as CEMPs, RAMS, ITPs, and inspection checklists, in consultation with project managers and statutory bodies.
14. Undertake continuous risk assessments and work package plan reviews to ensure documents meet company minimum requirements and comply with industry standards.
15. Maintain records, minutes, registers, and data as required.
16. Update plans and procedures, including CEMPs, during project execution.
17. Document all activities on-site, identify environmental problems, record transgressions, and provide professional advice and support to contractors, consultants, and project team members regarding environmental issues.
18. Coordinate regular site inspections with construction teams to monitor compliance with environmental regulations, licenses, consents, and environmental plans.
19. Support site teams and supervisory staff in undertaking project-related work package plans, method statements, and risk assessments in line with company requirements.
20. Act as liaison between regulatory authorities and third-party consultees on-site issues.
21. Interface with site teams and client environmental personnel.
22. Perform environmental compliance evaluations, inspections, and internal audits at prescribed intervals, recording outputs and liaising with site management to ensure actions are completed.
23. Investigate environmental incidents and near-miss events in accordance with company standards, identifying and sharing lessons learned, and monitoring report implementation to prevent recurrence.
24. Comply with relevant corporate policies and procedures, including equality, sustainability, and the environment, health and safety, and data protection.
