Ayrton Group are seeking a Health and Safety Technical Lead to join us on an ongoing project with a large utilities provider. Our client has multiple office locations across Ireland so will consider applicants based within a commutable distance of any office location.The Health & Safety Technical Lead is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving the company’s Health & Safety (H&S) management systems across all operational sites, including depots, storage facilities, and building services environments.This role ensures full regulatory compliance, promotes a proactive safety culture, reduces risk exposure, and supports operational excellence through strong technical leadership and governance.Key Responsibilities:Lead the development and implementation of the company’s H&S strategy.Ensure compliance with all applicable legislationDevelop policies, procedures, safe systems of work (SSOW), and technical standards.Report performance metrics (KPIs) to senior leadership and board level.Oversee H&S compliance in operational depots and storage facilities.Conduct audits and inspections to ensure safe storage, racking integrity, and housekeeping standards.Ensure safe stock handling and storage systems.Oversee compliance with fire safety, emergency routes, and hazardous goods management.Develop safe operating procedures for stores personnel.Coordinate regular risk assessments and emergency drills.Provide technical safety leadership across the building.Ensure compliance with statutory inspection regimes.Approve and monitor contractor RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements).Oversee Permit-to-Work systems (PTW), including hot works, confined space, and isolations.Lead investigations into accidents, near misses, and dangerous occurrences.Liaise with regulatory authorities when required.Develop and test emergency response plans.Support business continuity planning.Identify training needs across operational teams.Key Requirements:Relevant third level qualification – minimum Diploma in Safety, Health, and Welfare at Work.Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in a similar position.Previous experience on Utilities projects and working within Facilities is preferred.Varied experience in other sectors such as Construction would be beneficial.Previous experience in report writing and collation of information for KPI’s, safety metrics, presentations etc.Previous experience in working with all elements of a Safety Management System and knowledge of Integrated Management Systems, ISO 18001/45001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001.Strong ability to prioritise tasks, work with schedules, and manage resources while remaining focused on main goals.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.You must be legally permitted to live and work in Ireland.
