Primtac Personnel is partnering with a large Food Service Partner seeking an experienced
Transport Manager
to join the team in
New Ross
. This is a senior operational role that will play a key part in the continued growth of the organisation while ensuring the highest standards of customer service, compliance, and transport efficiency. The Transport Manager will lead the transport and distribution function, ensuring smooth daily operations, effective team management, and full compliance with industry and safety regulations.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILTIES
* Manage and lead the transport management and distribution team
* Coordinate all transport activities to ensure the efficient and smooth running of the depot
* Ensure the daily efficient dispatch of all routes and products to customers
* Coach, motivate, and develop members of the delivery team
* Liaise effectively with sales, transport, and operations teams to resolve issues in a timely manner
* Work closely with sales teams to ensure delivery schedules are efficient and aligned with customer needs
* Ensure delivery procedures and company policies are adhered to at all times
* Minimise equipment breakdowns and ensure repairs are reported and managed appropriately
* Maintain depot premises to a high standard
* Ensure all company vehicles are properly maintained, cleaned, and safely operated to reduce risk and protect brand standards
* Manage backhaul collections and ensure they are completed in line with daily requirements
* Oversee transport compliance in line with industry-leading standards
* Identify, coordinate, and deliver training as required
* Ensure security and health & safety procedures are adhered to at all times
* Lead by example, applying company policies and procedures in a fair, consistent, and unbiased manner
IDEAL CANDIDATE
* 3+ years' experience in a management or supervisory role within a high-volume, time-sensitive, multi-drop distribution environment
* Experience within the food distribution industry is advantageous
* Full driving licence required; Transport Management CPC is advantageous
* Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
* Proven ability to manage and motivate teams to deliver high standards of service
* Hands-on leadership style with strong decision-making capability
* Strong planning and organisational skills with a focus on safety and efficiency
* Ability to analyse, interpret, and present relevant operational and business data
* Fluent English (written and spoken)
* Strong knowledge of Department of Transport regulations, including Tachograph legislation and the Working Time Directive
* Good knowledge of the surrounding geographical area
