Responsibilities Practice within NMBI Advanced Practice domains including professional values, clinical decision-making, communication, leadership, and management. Deliver rapid assessment and expert management of patients presenting with cancer-related emergencies. Manage oncological emergencies within 24 hours, including neutropenic sepsis, spinal cord compression, hypercalcemia, and tumour lysis syndrome, in line with UKONS guidelines. Coordinate care effectively between oncology teams, primary care, and other healthcare professionals across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. Provide psychological and emotional support to patients and families, including counselling as required. Educate and train healthcare staff on recognising and managing acute oncological emergencies, following the UKONS training programme. Achieve advanced/expert ANP/CNS competency, to be signed off by the clinical lead or designated medical oncology consultant. Reduce unplanned hospital admissions through early intervention, proactive management, and adherence to established pathways. Monitor KPIs using the Beacon UKONS dashboard, ensuring compliance with UKONS triage processes and performance metrics. Lead clinical governance and quality improvement, ensuring best practice, adherence to guidelines, and continuous service enhancement. Requirements NMBI Registration Registered as an ANP, or as a CNS willing to progress to ANP status. Nurse Prescribing Registration Registered in the Nurse Prescribers division of NMBI. Education MSc (NFQ Level 9) relevant to the clinical specialty. Professional Competence Demonstrates strong clinical, professional, and administrative capability. Experience Minimum 5 years post registration and at least 2 years in the specialist area. Safe Clinical Practice Ability to practice safely, effectively, and within scope of practice. Ongoing Development Evidence of continued professional development. Teamwork Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team with motivation and innovation. Communication Skills Strong communication, relationship building, presentation, teaching, and feedback skills.
