Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled VMware and Active Directory (AD) / Windows Server Administrator to join our IT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and supporting our virtualized (VM) infrastructure and Active Directory services, handling escalations from Level 2 support teams, and executing critical monthly controls across key areas. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a focus on security and resilience.

Key Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and manage VMware virtual environments, including vSphere, vCenter, and related VMware products.
Administer and support Active Directory environments, including user and group management, Group Policy configuration, and domain controller management.
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues related to VMware and Active Directory.
Develop and maintain documentation for systems, processes, and configurations.
Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate VMware and Active Directory services with other systems and applications.
Implement security best practices and policies to protect both VMware and Active Directory infrastructures.
Collaborate with our MSP to Perform system upgrades, patches, and backup/recovery operations.
Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing for virtualized and Active Directory environments.
Drive and support remediation of our technical debt
Provide support and training to junior staff and end-users as needed.

Escalation Management:
Act as the escalation point for complex issues from Level 2 support teams related to VMware, AD, and Windows Server environments. Provide advanced troubleshooting and resolution.

Monthly Controls & Compliance Checks:
Execute and document monthly control activities, including:
System Software Currency
Resilience and High Availability
Technical Debt Identification and Management
Security and System Hardening with CIS and MTSB benchmarks
Vulnerability Management and Patching
Backup & Recovery Validation
Capacity Management and Planning

System Maintenance & Hardening:
Implement and monitor security best practices, ensuring system hardening, vulnerability mitigation, and compliance with organizational policies.

Patch Management & Vulnerability:
Coordinate with security teams to apply patches, perform vulnerability scans, and address security findings promptly.

Backup & Recovery:
Oversee backup operations, validate recovery procedures, and ensure data integrity and availability.

Capacity & Performance Monitoring:
Track system capacity, utilization trends, and performance metrics to facilitate proactive planning.

Additional Skills & Responsibilities:
Maintain and optimize VMware vSphere environments, including clusters and resource management.
Manage Active Directory infrastructure, including user accounts, group policies, and domain services.
Support Windows Server environments, applying best practices for stability and security.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve infrastructure resilience and performance.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
3-5 years of experience in systems administration with a focus on VMware and Active Directory.
Strong knowledge of VMware products (vSphere, vCenter, ESXi) and related technologies.
Experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, and identity management.
Familiarity with networking concepts, DNS, DHCP, and LDAP.
Knowledge of scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash) for automation purposes.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Relevant certifications (e.g., VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, MCSE) are a plus.
Working knowledge of the ITIL framework and Financial services control environment

Desirable experience
Familiar with Financial services control environment
Load balancing technologies (e.g., F5, Netscaler, or equivalent).
Knowledge of scripting (PowerShell, Bash) for automation.
