Head of Children's Services YMCA Dublin · Full-time · Hybrid Role Summary YMCA Dublin is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Children's Services to lead our growing childcare and school-age services.

This leadership role supports the roll-out of new childcare centres, ensures the highest early years standards, and drives business sustainability and innovation.

Reporting to the CEO, you will oversee childcare leadership teams, ensure operational excellence, embed consistent quality standards, and contribute to the organisation's long-term strategic development.

Location: Hybrid (minimum 3 days per week on-site)Hours:37.5 hours Contract: Permanent (following 6-month probation)Direct Reports:4 (with scope to grow)Salary:€72,500 – €78,000 (depending on experience)Annual Leave:25 days, plus one additional day for every 2 years of service (up to 5 extra days)Key Responsibilities Leadership & Strategy Lead the development and delivery of high-quality childcare and school-age services across YMCA Dublin.

Support the opening and expansion of new childcare settings.

Embed a standardised model of early years excellence.

Oversee budgeting, business planning, risk management and compliance.

Contribute to the strategic development of Children & Families Services.

Quality, Compliance & Operations Ensure implementation of a consistent, child-centred play-based curriculum.

Lead on Tusla compliance, inspections and improvement processes.

Embed Family Support across all childcare centres.

Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and environmental standards.

Lead staff development, performance management and training.

Business Development & Governance Analyse government childcare policies and identify opportunities for growth.

Track Core Funding, grants, and support submissions.

Ensure centres operate sustainably and deliver agreed service levels.

Provide reports and strategic input to the CEO, Board and committees.

Critical Analysis & Decision-Making Analyse complex information to support decision-making.

Identify risks, challenges and innovative solutions.

Act as keyholder and participate in the on-call rota for emergencies.

Manage operational issues as required.

Qualifications & Experience Essential3–5+ years' proven childcare management or related leadership experience.

Strong leadership and people-management skills.

Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage change.

Outstanding written and verbal communication.

Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Business acumen and ability to create/evaluate business cases.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

High attention to detail and strong stakeholder engagement skills.

Proficiency with cloud-based systems (e.g., Google Workspace).

Positive, solution-focused, team-oriented approach.

Desirable Knowledge of the Charities Governance Code.

Experience in a charitable or social impact organisation.
