Job Description:
Your New Company: Your new company is a government office that delivers public services for flood protection, managing government properties, and heritage services. It is overseen by the Minister of State at the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform.
Your New Role & Project Details: This role is an initial hourly paid contract position (common in Public/Semi State Bodies, with potential for direct employment afterward). The initial contract duration is 12-24 months, based in Rathfarnham, Dublin South. Responsibilities may include:
* Diversion of water mains;
* Working adjacent to live services including Eir, gas, and ESB;
* Installation of temporary works including piling;
* Contract lifts for installing precast concrete culvert units;
* Riverbank restoration works;
* Landscaping of public green areas;
* Reinstatement of temporary laydown and construction compounds;
* Reinstatement of roads and footways;
* Construction of boundary walls and related finishing works;
Selection of Duties:
* Producing method statements and risk assessments, ensuring work complies with documentation;
* Setting out, including leveling, Total-station, and GPS work;
* Monitoring works to ensure adherence to design drawings and specifications;
* Supervising civil engineering activities such as excavation, shuttering, steel-fixing, concrete works, pipe/culvert lifting and placing, ensuring health and safety compliance;
* Daily record keeping, including Daily Allocation Sheets, Plant Sheets, site progress photos;
* Managing subcontractors.
Requirements:
* At least 3 years’ experience with a main contractor on civil engineering projects; experience in river/flood defence works is advantageous;
* Level 8 degree in Civil Engineering;
* Current SafePass Card;
* Valid driving license and own transport;
* Desirable courses: IOSH Managing Safely in Construction or similar, CITB Temporary Works Supervisor/co-ordinator training.
