Job Description:
Responsibilities:
1. Support GD Fundraising and Field Operations teams in funding bids through engagement with research partners and project funders, and support the development of project monitoring and evaluation plans.
2. Design quantitative surveys and qualitative interview guides in collaboration with data and country teams, including cognitive testing and piloting of data collection instruments.
3. Work with Field Operations to develop and support ongoing monitoring and evaluation, and initiate evaluations of non-experimental GD projects.
4. Perform data quality checks for ongoing GD internal research and project evaluations.
5. Conduct primary data analysis for internal and externally funded non-RCT projects and provide statistical support to Field Operations teams.
6. Write high-quality reports and review reports critically for internal and external stakeholders.
7. Conduct literature reviews as needed and stay updated on relevant research findings.
8. Assist the Research Manager in maintaining GD's research knowledge databases.
9. Undertake administrative duties related to research projects, such as participating in meetings, organizing research sessions, and maintaining research documents.
Core competencies and experiences:
* Master's degree in Economics with coursework in econometrics, impact evaluation, and economic development.
* At least 3 years of research and development experience, preferably in countries where GiveDirectly operates.
* Strong understanding of economic development and poverty reduction drivers.
* Experience with quantitative research methods and software tools (R, Stata, SurveyCTO). Experience with experimental/quasi-experimental designs is a plus.
* Experience in qualitative research design, interviews, focus groups, and qualitative analysis is advantageous.
* Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with both technical and non-technical audiences.
* Stakeholder management and project management experience.
* Ability to synthesize research literature and present key findings clearly.
* Alignment with core competencies: emotional intelligence, problem solving, project management, follow-through, and inclusivity. Experience with marginalized communities is encouraged.
Compensation:
GiveDirectly offers a competitive salary and benefits, aligned with experience. The salary benchmarks are:
* US: $81,400
* UK: £55,600
* Kenya: $48,000
This role is fully remote. Salary estimates for other countries will be provided during hiring. We promote diversity, equity, and inclusion and have moved to a remote-first support model.
