Senior Financial Accountant Job Description
The role of the Senior Financial Accountant is a pivotal position in our organization's financial operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with statutory requirements, and support for strategic financial planning.
As a key member of the finance team, you will collaborate closely with various departments and external stakeholders, including auditors and regulatory bodies. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to build strong relationships and facilitate effective collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in the day-to-day operations of the finance function, providing proactive support to ensure seamless processes.
* Prepare monthly financial reports, including management accounts, activity reports, and performance metrics, to provide insights for informed decision-making.
* Support the preparation of annual financial statements and liaise with external auditors to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Manage cash flow forecasting, banking, and treasury functions to maintain liquidity and optimize financial performance.
* Review and enhance internal financial controls and procedures to mitigate risks and improve operational efficiency.
* Collaborate with the ICT department on finance system upgrades and implementations to leverage technology and drive process improvements.
* Assist in budget preparation and monitoring to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
* Contribute to risk management and quality assurance frameworks to maintain a high level of governance and control.
Person Specification:
* Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA, ACA) or equivalent.
* Minimum of 3 to 4 years' experience in a similar role, preferably in the public sector.
* Strong proficiency in financial systems and MS Excel to analyze data and prepare reports.
* Previous experience in the public sector is highly advantageous.
