Technical Director – Water Resources Engineer (Mining)
We are looking for an experienced technical leader to deliver world‑class water resources engineering solutions for mining projects. The role focuses on project delivery, technical excellence, business development, and building a high‑performance team.
Responsibilities
Lead technical direction, review and sign‑off of work within the water resources discipline.
Provide consulting services on conceptual modelling, hydraulics, mine water management, stormwater, flood‑lines, water conservation and demand management.
Direct and review water resource aspects of a range of international mining projects, including environmental assessments, permitting and engineering design.
Conduct climatic, hydrological, hydraulic assessments, fieldwork, data management, analysis and modelling.
Develop integrated water management plans and conceptual design of water infrastructure.
Model water balances to assess management solutions and estimate demands, treatment, storage and discharge volumes.
Design pre‑feasibility, feasibility, and detailed designs of water infrastructure such as channels, sewers, culverts, spillways, and pumping systems.
Carry out dam‑break analyses and dilution/assimilative capacity studies of surface‑water receivers.
Prepare flood risk assessments and design Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems for land development projects.
Support climate change reporting, resilience, adaptation and nature‑based solutions.
Lead multi‑disciplinary project teams, ensuring safe, timely, on‑budget delivery to client and company standards.
Achieve utilisation targets and manage travel for UK and international site work.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, hydrology or a related field (post‑grad qualification preferred).
Registered Chartered/Professional Engineer or member of a relevant professional body.
Proactive approach to technical service delivery.
Experience in client relationship development and business growth.
Ability to manage high‑performing teams.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Track record of winning work and delivering projects.
Experience in project delivery and direction across complex projects.
Principal / Associate Director – Resource Geologist (Mine Engineering)
Lead geological modelling and resource estimation for mining projects, support business growth, and oversee quality assurance.
Responsibilities
Develop and refine geological models for resource estimation.
Conduct site investigations, audits and quality control reviews.
Critically review technical reports and studies.
Define scope for mining studies including PEA, PFS, FS.
Promote business growth and engage new clients.
Attend client meetings, field reviews and project oversight.
Support project success across tasks.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in geology or equivalent.
Experience in resource estimation across commodities and deposit types.
Registered Chartered Geologist (CGeol) or equivalent.
Knowledge of reporting codes (NI 43‑101, JORC, etc.).
Proficiency in geospatial software (Datamine, Surpac, Minesight, etc.).
Strong communication, technical writing, and client engagement skills.
Willingness to travel and work under supervision.
Technical Director – (Mine Waste / Mining)
Lead mine‑waste projects, provide technical direction, manage client relationships, and drive business growth.
Responsibilities
Deliver consulting services for mine‑waste projects worldwide.
Manage design, inspection and closure of tailings facilities, water impoundments, waste‑rock dumps and related civil works.
Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team.
Prepare technical reports, cost estimates and proposals.
Engage in global technical practice groups.
Maintain client relationships and generate new business.
Travel to UK and internationally for client support.
Qualifications
Degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering or related field.
Experience in mine‑waste, tailings, and soil mechanics.
Chartered professional status or equivalent.
Track record of large, multi‑disciplinary project delivery.
Strong interpersonal, communication and commercial skills.
Availability to travel within the UK and globally.
Technical Director – Geochemist/Hydrogeochemist (Mine Water Team)
Lead geochemical water‑rock interaction studies to manage metal leaching and acid rock drainage, and drive technical excellence in mining water projects.
Responsibilities
Provide technical expertise on permitting, baseline studies, engineering studies, operations and closure for mining projects.
Collaborate across the Mining Team and wider business.
Manage proposals, cost estimates, client liaison and billing.
Lead and mentor the Mine Water team.
Participate in global technical practice groups.
Engage in business development: proposals, marketing, tradeshows.
Travel domestically and internationally as required.
Qualifications
Advanced degree (MSc/PhD) in geochemistry, hydrogeochemistry or related discipline.
Experience in mine water geochemistry and biogeochemistry.
Technical leadership and multi‑disciplinary project delivery.
Strong communication, negotiation and client‑relationship skills.
Professional registration or pursuing it; commitment to continuous professional development.
Proficiency in technical report writing and proposal development.
English proficiency; additional language skills valued.
