Environmental Health Specialist
About the Role
You will play a key leadership role in delivering high-quality Environmental Health services, overseeing Food Safety, Health & Safety, Consumer Protection, and Tobacco Control across the district.
Key Responsibilities:
* Food Safety: Manage inspections, food hygiene ratings, and complaints. Oversee sampling programmes and infectious disease investigations. Approve premises and support the fishing industry.
* Health & Safety at Work: Lead investigations into workplace accidents and complaints. Coordinate safety campaigns and partnerships with external agencies. Ensure compliance at caravan sites and sports grounds.
* Consumer Protection: Oversee risk-based inspections and complaint handling. Manage product safety programmes and partnership initiatives.
Leadership and Engagement: Drive improvements, ensure statutory compliance, and meet performance targets. Manage budgets, funding, reporting, and returns. Manage and develop staff, address attendance and performance issues.
Essential Requirements
Proven experience in Environmental Health. Strong leadership and team management skills. Detailed knowledge of relevant legislation and best practice. Excellent communication, decision-making, and organisational abilities.
