Electrical Commissioning Engineer with strong expertise in SCADA, MV/HV systems, and automation, responsible for managing vendor delivery, ensuring compliance, and driving commissioning activities across complex projects.
Key Responsibilities
Manage commissioning activities for assigned electrical vendors, ensuring full compliance with project scope and requirements.
Monitor and track delivery of vendor scope against agreed timelines and commissioning programme milestones.
Communicate key deadlines and progress updates to internal teams and external stakeholders.
Lead progress tracking and reporting against the commissioning programme, highlighting risks and mitigation actions.
Attend and contribute to daily and weekly commissioning meetings (internal and vendor-facing).
Prepare and maintain weekly commissioning progress reports for submission to commissioning management.
Coordinate closely with QA/QC teams to ensure quality standards and project objectives are achieved.
Liaise with Energy Marshall and planning teams to align on-site switching, permitting, and energisation activities.
Review, track, and secure approvals for all relevant electrical commissioning documentation (e.g., test scripts, compliance statements).
Witness and verify vendor commissioning activities to ensure alignment with approved documentation and standards.
Implement and manage commissioning tagging processes and procedures.
Oversee day-to-day on-site commissioning operations for assigned packages.
Skills & Qualifications
Strong experience in SCADA and automation systems, including IEC-*****, Modbus TCP, and Soft PLC platforms.
Proven hands-on experience in site-based testing, validation, and commissioning of automation systems.
Ability to interpret SCADA system design, optimisation strategies, and control logic/code.
Solid understanding of MV systems, GOOSE interlocking, and electrical process control systems.
Knowledge of control system network architecture and integration requirements.
Experience developing and executing SCADA test strategies and process flow logic.
Background in gas or power generation plants, ideally including emergency backup systems.
Familiarity with Siemens SIPROTEC relays, DIGSI configuration tools, and MV switchgear systems.
Strong understanding of N+1 redundancy requirements in data centre backup systems.
Experience with programming languages such as FBD, Ladder Logic, and SFC is advantageous.
Relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or electrical trade (e.g., NVQ or equivalent).
Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar commissioning role within construction environments (data centres, pharma, industrial, or commercial projects preferred).
Experience working with LV, MV, or HV systems, including commissioning and energisation activities.
Broad technical knowledge of electrical systems including switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS, busway, ATS, EPMS, BMS, and HVAC systems.
Strong understanding of construction processes and site safety requirements.
Analytical problem-solver with decisive decision-making capability.
Process-driven mindset with a strong focus on EHS, quality standards, and structured work management systems.
