Eir evo talent are currently seeking applicants for a Senior Security Engineer (Microsoft XDR). This is a day rate position located with our client in Dublin 1. This is a hybrid role.
Key Responsibilities
* Security Operations (SOC/XDR):
o Manage and monitor Microsoft Defender XDR on a daily basis – incidents, alerts, threats, and trends.
o Perform vulnerability analysis, technical assessments, and escalate issues as needed.
o Conduct daily check-ins and maintain detailed team logs.
* Governance & Reporting:
o Prepare and deliver weekly cyber security reports to the ICT leadership team.
o Update and maintain the organisation’s risk register.
o Produce clear reports and presentations for senior management and the Board.
* Risk & Compliance:
o Carry out risk management for new solutions and initiatives.
o Ensure existing policies, procedures, and controls are adhered to and updated where required.
* Collaboration & Support:
o Work with a team of 12–15 on the service desk (including 2 currently focused on cyber).
o Engage with senior stakeholders including the Head of ICT, Senior Network Administrator, and Information Security Officer.
o Provide guidance to the wider ICT function as they transition towards an MSP model.
* Strategic Awareness:
o Support ongoing projects such as Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity, cloud migration (ExpressRoute, Azure Landing Zones), and legacy system security.
o Contribute to strengthening overall cyber resilience while ensuring a practical, hands-on approach.
Skills & Experience Required
* Proven experience in Microsoft Defender XDR (Microsoft Security Centre) – daily operations, incident response, and reporting.
* Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD).
* Hands-on cyber security analyst skills with the ability to also operate strategically.
* Experience producing reports and presenting to senior management.
* Familiarity with DR/BCM, cloud migration, and Azure environments.
* Strong knowledge of risk management and security frameworks.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively, and “roll up sleeves” where required.
