Ireland's national energy authority, is seeking a BER Calculation Methodology Developer to join their Technical Department.
The BER Calculation Methodology Developer will be responsible for the ongoing development and improvement of Building Energy Rating (BER) calculation methods in compliance with the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD). The role involves working with technical experts, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to ensure that Ireland's BER system remains accurate and effective.
This role is initially offered on an 18-month contract basis with potential for extension.

Key Responsibilities
7. Develop and refine the BER calculation methodology to ensure alignment with EPBD requirements and industry best practices.
8. Collaborate with software teams to integrate the calculation methodologies into SEAI's operational platforms like DEAP and NEAP.
9. Engage with stakeholders including government agencies, industry experts, and research bodies to drive best practices in energy performance assessments.
10. Provide technical expertise in energy modeling and calculation methods, contributing to the evolution of national energy performance standards.
11. Monitor international practices and update the BER methodologies as needed to reflect global developments in energy efficiency.
12. Assist in the development of IT systems that support the BER programme, ensuring seamless integration for data exchange and access.
Requirements
Essential Criteria:
13. Degree: Minimum NFQ Level 7 in a relevant technical discipline such as Engineering, Building Science, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Architecture, or related fields.
14. Experience: At least four years of experience in building energy performance assessment, energy modeling, or energy consultancy.
15. Technical Knowledge: Experience with energy performance methodologies, including familiarity with DEAP and NEAP.
16. Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical abilities and the capacity to resolve complex technical challenges.
17. Communication Skills: Ability to clearly convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders
Desirable Criteria:
18. Postgraduate qualification in a related field.
19. BER Assessor Certification or equivalent.
20. Project Management Skills (PMP certification is an advantage).
21. IT Systems Knowledge: Experience in software development, quality control, and managing systems integrations.
