Social Work strives to empower people with an intellectual disability to have dignifying relationships and to be included meaningfully in the life of their communities. The senior social worker will be involved in both a multidiscipline and uni-discipline approach to assessing the needs and supporting persons with disability in residential and day services, as well as mentoring and supervision to Social Workers.The post holder will have the following qualifications, experience, skills and abilities: -The Candidate:Professional Qualifications, Experience etc.Eligible applicants will be those on the closing date for the competition:Each candidate for the appointment mustBe registered or eligible for registration, on the Social Work Register maintained by the Social Work Registration Board at CORU ANDHave 3 years relevant post-qualification experience in disability or working within a Multidiscipline team ANDHave the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office ANDProvide proof of Statutory Registration on the Social Workers Register maintained by the Social Workers Registration Board at CORU before a contract can be issued ANDProven effectiveness as a professional Social WorkerAgeThe Public Service Superannuation (Age of Retirement) Act, 2018* set 70 years as the compulsory retirement age for publicservants.Public Servants not affected by this legislation:Public servants recruited between 1 April 2004 and 31 December 2012 (new entrants) have no compulsory retirement age.
