Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a full‑time, fixed‑term position for 2 years (24 months) as a Postdoctoral Researcher/Research Associate for the "Working with key stakeholders to co‑design strategies to support participation of young adults with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes in Diabetic Retina Screening" project with the School of Psychology at the University of Galway, Ireland.
Responsibilities
Lead the research project and work closely with the Principal Investigator, Dr Jenny Mc Sharry, and the Lead Knowledge User, Dr Alice Le Bonniec.
Conduct a rapid review of the scientific literature (Work‑Package 1).
Carry out interviews with young adults living with diabetes (Work‑Package 2).
Facilitate workshops to co‑develop evidence‑based strategies using the Behaviour Change Wheel approach (Work‑Package 3).
Develop a toolkit of strategies to support Diabetic Retina Screening attendance among young adults.
Location
The project will be hosted by the Health Behaviour Change Research Group in the School of Psychology, an internationally recognised centre of excellence in health behaviour intervention development, evaluation and implementation. The successful applicant will become a staff member of the School of Psychology at the University of Galway.
Funding
This position is funded by a Health Research Board Applied Partnership Award and the National Screening Service and is available from June 2026 to June 2028.
