Product Development Manager

We're looking for a Product Development Manager (PDM) to lead the creation and delivery of a consumer‑led innovation and renovation pipeline across one of our strategic product segments. This is a pivotal role within our RDQ organisation, driving product strategy and ensuring our brands continue to win now and in the future. If you have a passion for food, deep technical expertise, and the ability to take ideas from concept to full‑scale launch, this is your opportunity to shape products enjoyed across multiple markets.
About the Role
As a PDM, you will own and deliver the product development strategy across Must Win Battles (MWBs) and Secondary Battlefields. You'll manage the full innovation and renovation pipeline — from early concepting, rapid prototyping and consumer testing through to factory implementation and post‑launch optimisation.
Working across in‑house manufacturing sites and co‑packers, you'll act as a technical expert, quality champion and key partner to Marketing, Packaging, Supply Chain and Commercial teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver a consumer‑led innovation and renovation pipeline (NPD & EPD) aligned to MWB growth and superiority targets.
* Lead R&D programmes that reflect strategic priorities and the "Win as One" philosophy.
* Manage product development across Brand, Private Label, Export and Food Service channels.
* Lead projects across F4G, business continuity, insourcing and technical improvement areas.
* Build and apply deep technical expertise in relevant technologies, processes and manufacturing systems.
* Ensure regulatory compliance, nutritional targets and strong gate documentation.
* Develop product strategies that maintain competitive advantage and drive product superiority.
* Lead and develop a small team (1–2 direct reports), supporting capability building and performance.
* Collaborate cross‑functionally with RDQ, Marketing, Insights, Supply Chain, Finance and external partners.
About You
* Degree in a science‑based discipline (Food Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Biology) or substantial FMCG technical/product development experience.
* Proven track record of delivering innovation from prototype to full production.
* Strong understanding of food science, ingredient‑process interactions or packaging technologies.
* Experienced in concept development, rapid prototyping and quality‑driven innovation.
* Knowledge of intellectual property principles (patents, exclusivity, know‑how, trade secrets).
* Excellent project management skills and comfort working in a complex, pan‑European organisation.
* Strong leadership skills with experience developing people and influencing stakeholders.
* Organised, detail‑orientated, technically confident and passionate about creating food consumers love.
