Civils Site Manager / Site Supervisor – Civil Engineering - Substation – Wind Farm Connection – County Donegal, Ireland – Contract Position Job Overview: We are working with a Tier 1 contractor delivering a 110kV grid transformer / 33kV MV substation connection for a Wind Farm project in Northwest Ireland.
The client is seeking a Site Manager or Senior Site Supervisor with a strong civil engineering background, ideally someone with prior experience overseeing substation civil works.
The role will involve being the key person on site, responsible for contractor coordination, HSE compliance, and technical oversight during the civils package - including cable ducting, transformer bunds, control buildings, and earthworks.
Key Responsibilities: Take part in contractor tender reviews and preparation of construction look-aheads Oversee day-to-day civil activities on the substation site Ensure correct setup of site facilities and HSE compliance from day one Manage subcontractors and monitor site performance and quality Liaise closely with the Project Manager and remote design teams Interpret and implement technical designs; resolve on-site design conflicts Coordinate with the client, EirGrid, and ESB on site matters Ensure RAMS and all method statements are in place and followed Qualifications & Experience: Extensive civil works experience on high voltage substations (110kV+) Strong technical understanding of: Cable ducting routes, Earthing systems, Grid transformer foundations and bunds Ability to work independently and manage contractors on-site Professional approach to client communication and site coordination Familiarity with HSE procedures and RAMS implementation Experience supporting design resolution and interfacing with engineering teams Contract Type: Freelance/Contract Duration: 6 – 9 month initial contract (Potential to extend) Start Date: July/August to support early-stage preparation, design interface, and contractor tender evaluations, before moving into full delivery mode in September.
