Occupli is recruiting a Senior Environmental Health and Safety Specialist on the Northeast Coast of Ireland.
This role involves providing technical support for Environmental, Health, and Safety programs, and addressing EHS issues within Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, reporting to the EHS Lead.
Contract Role.
Responsibilities
1. Ensure compliance with statutory legislation and internal policies and procedures.
2. Coordinate environmental controls and ensure compliance with IPC license.
3. Maintain accurate records.
4. Conduct chemical-based risk assessments.
5. Assess manufacturing lines.
6. Oversee the risk assessment program.
7. Liaise with external EHS agencies, e.g., EPA, and ensure compliance with all environmental licenses.
8. Manage site environmental waste and drive continuous improvements.
9. Ensure compliance with Battery, WEEE, and Waste Packaging Directives for Europe.
10. Perform risk assessments and implement control measures.
11. Develop and update EHS control procedures.
12. Develop training programs on EHS, emphasizing communication and coaching.
13. Implement occupational health surveillance programs.
14. Investigate accidents and generate reports, including root cause analysis.
15. Perform duties in accordance with GMP, SOPs, and controlled documents.
16. Handle additional tasks as assigned by the EHS Division Lead.
Requirements
Education/Qualifications
* Degree in Science, Engineering, or Health & Safety (Level 8).
* Postgraduate qualification in Health & Safety (Level 9).
Knowledge/Experience
* At least 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biosafety industry, with experience in a regulatory environment.
* Experience managing EHS teams within a department or program.
* Experience leading root cause investigations.
* 3-4 years of experience in an Occupational Health and Safety role within manufacturing or process industries, with strong attention to detail and scientific problem-solving skills.
* Bio Safety experience.
* Strategic mindset with the ability to anticipate future developments.
* Innovative approach.
Preferred
* Start-up or biotechnology industry experience.
* Experience implementing EHS Management Systems, including procedures, training, and coaching for compliance.
* Experience working with regulatory authorities such as Irish Water, H.S.A, and EPA.
