Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join our engineering team in Carrigtwohill, Cork. This position reports to the Capital Project Manager. This is an 18-month Fixed Term Contract. This is a varied role, and you will be involved in everything from completing feasibility studies to leading commissioning and validation activities at a growing pharmaceutical manufacturing plant.

Roles and Responsibilities

* Manage capital engineering projects within the site, following the AbbVie Project Lifecycle approach.
* Support the Operations Engineering Team in controlling uptime of process equipment and optimizing efficiencies.
* Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operations and equipment reliability.
* Coordinate with internal/external engineering personnel and maintenance providers for troubleshooting, maintenance, and commissioning.
* Lead equipment commissioning and validation activities for capital projects.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver the site capital project portfolio.
* Prepare feasibility studies and manage budgets for capital projects.
* Support major site initiatives and core goals.
* Prepare Requests for Capital Expenditure (RCE) for projects.
* Coordinate with Global Engineering, including communities of practice and forums.
* Manage engineering contractors on-site, ensuring safety standards and safe working practices are maintained, including RAMS, permits, and training records.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements

* Degree in Chemical, Process, or Mechanical Engineering.
* Minimum 7-10 years of pharmaceutical industry experience.
* Experience with change control processes.
* Knowledge of cGMP and regulatory standards in pharma.
* Site experience with OSD equipment, cleanroom processing/utilities, HVAC, CIP systems, water systems, nitrogen, etc.

Nice to Have Experience

* Process engineering, batch processing, automation, project management, commissioning, validation, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement.
* Experience with Trackwise change control system.
* Electrical system design, installation, and familiarity with ATE.
