Senior Maintenance Manager

The Role & What You Will Be Doing

The Senior Maintenance Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing facilities and utilities strategies that align with organisational goals and regulatory requirements.

This role will make an impact by:

* Managing daily operations and maintenance of critical utility systems, including HVAC, water systems, compressed air, power distribution, and waste management;
* Ensuring compliance to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), EHS (Environmental Health and Safety), and other regulatory standards;
* Managing budgets for facilities and utilities, optimising cost efficiency while maintaining high standards of performance and compliance;
* Identifying opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency, incorporating innovative solutions and sustainable practices;
* Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of engineers, technicians, and other personnel responsible for facility operations;
* Coordinating with external vendors and contractors for facility services, ensuring quality and compliance with contract terms;
* Developing and executing emergency response plans related to facility and utility systems;
* Overseeing construction, renovation, and upgrade projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to standards;
* Providing support and guidance on minimising repeated breakdowns/deviations by ensuring implementation of corrective actions against identified root cause;
* Managing facility and utilities to ensure areas are audit ready;
* Supporting the implementation of the Operational Excellence/6S program on the site by managing staff to identify and implement improvements.


About Your Skills & Experience

For this role, we're looking for a candidate who has an effective combination of the following qualifications, skills, and experiences:

* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline;
* Minimum of 8 years' experience in maintenance and engineering within the pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device industry;
* In-depth knowledge of GMP, EHS, and relevant regulatory compliance standards;
* Proven expertise in maintaining pharmaceutical utilities, including HVAC, water systems, compressed air, refrigeration, and cleanrooms;
* Proficient in the use of CMMS platforms such as SAP or Maximo;
* Familiarity with automation technologies, including PLCs and SCADA systems;
* Experience with lean manufacturing methodologies, Six Sigma, or Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) is an advantage;
* Strong leadership skills with experience in team development, training, and performance management;
* Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and organisational abilities;
* Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure;
* Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of the organisation.
