The Asset Operations function forms the cornerstone of service delivery to customers, protecting the environment and meeting regulatory standards as well as managing the majority of operational expenditure.
The O&M team is responsible for the national delivery of water and wastewater operational services through the operation, inspection, maintenance and repair of the water and wastewater treatment and network assets. The Regional O&M Team has a regional remit and is responsible for the regional operational management of water or wastewater treatment and network assets and the associated delivery of water/wastewater services through operational, maintenance and repair activities, while managing health and safety.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for leading and managing the performance of a team of water treatment maintenance operatives and to provide them with the necessary direction and skills to carry out all types of M&E activity to the water asset base to ensure compliance with relevant legislation is maintained
Responsible for the overall management of planned and reactive mechanical and electrical (M&E) activities across the water treatment asset base within a geographical area including pumping stations, water treatment plants and sludge treatment assets
Responsible for managing the undertaking of a range of mechanical tasks, which may include the routine maintenance or removal of pumps, pump component replacements, engines, valves, gearboxes, specialist electrical interface hydraulics and pneumatics, fitting, pipe disconnections, and mechanical devices (such as bearing’s couplings, brakes and safety guards)
Responsible for managing the budget allocated to the team and resource allocation including approval of purchase requisitions
Contribute to the development of water operational, maintenance and repair plans and standard operating procedures as required
Ensure the team works in accordance with defined levels of operational competence, health and safety requirements, QA systems and procedures using the technology provided
Responsible for delivering consistent customer service and managing the potential operational impact of breakdowns that may impact the water asset base
Support in the coordination of incident and emergency response, ensuring all health and safety standards are met and pollution classifications are consistent
Develop the skills of team members through provision of coaching and training in all aspects of the operation of relevant works
Ensure all relevant documentation is completed and uploaded to the central IT system
Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures that maximise quality of output, efficiency and support the adoption of processes
Validate completion of operational work and raise service requests as required
Responsible for issuing of permits to work/Risk Assessments/Method Statements to all relevant contractors and ensure they follow all health and safety procedures
Support Contact Centre / Customer Contact Technical Leads with any customer issues/queries, including site visits where required
Liaise with the Water Treatment Operations Team Lead in the provision and maintenance of Water treatment services as required
Responsible for managing the undertaking of a range of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls and automation tasks

Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards
Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation‑wide objectives
Provide visible leadership for your team, coaching and developing them to achieve their full potential and deliver business objectives, promoting collaboration and highlighting the behaviours that are expected from everyone in the team
Conduct duties and responsibilities in accordance with Uisce Éireann’s Information Security policies, standards, processes and controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of UÉ business information, and delivery of critical services, in accordance with the NIS Directive and any other relevant cybersecurity regulation

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Leaving Certificate or equivalent
Mechanical: QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate or equivalent – Craft in apprenticeship such as Pipefitting or Craft of Mechanical Automation and Maintenance Fitting
Electrical: RECI qualification or registration with a licensed regulatory body, Level 7 Apprenticeship: Industrial Electrician
Minimum of 5 years directly relevant experience in a similar role within Water M&E or equivalent
Team Leader skills in particular coaching, motivating and managing performance
In-depth knowledge of the application of current legislation, standards, processes and procedures relevant to Water treatment operations
Specialist skills and in-depth knowledge of maintaining and operating treatment assets
Capable of building a high performing team and of developing people to realise their full potential and achieve results through effective coaching, delegation and support
Experience in a customer focused business
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Effective communication skills, to engage with a broad range of internal stakeholders, customers and frontline employees
Experience / understanding of working within a strong health & safety culture
Ability to make decisions based on analysis of information within a very fast paced, customer focused environment
Full, clean and valid Irish category B driving licence
