Position Overview:
Virgin Media Television is seeking a television producer for our flagship morning programme, Ireland AM (Weekend Edition). The producer will be responsible for outputting live studio, booking guests, generating ideas for content, identifying new talent, and working closely with a team of producers, presenters, researchers, and guests, agencies, and commercial.
Full of ideas, the producer must show great initiative, sound editorial judgement, and demonstrate a precise understanding of what makes informative and entertaining television. The successful candidate must be able to lead and inspire researchers, delegating duties appropriately and driving initiative daily. This role will involve varied shifts outside of normal office hours.
Specific Duties & Tasks:
* Booking content, organising filming on location, script writing for presenters.
* Working within a team of producers and researchers in the preparation and management of high-quality programming.
* Developing high impact editorial strands on the show.
* Sourcing and posting digital news content from the shows to online platforms.
Skills & Expertise:
* Extensive experience working in television/radio.
* Thorough knowledge of news and entertainment formats.
* A strong contacts book.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work under pressure as part of a busy team and meet deadlines.
* Ability to work flexible hours.
* Exceptional organisation skills.
