We are looking for an experienced SHEQ Manager to join our growing site in Clonshaugh, supporting a large, complex, and fast‑moving operation.
This is a high‑profile, influential role, working in close partnership with the Site General Manager, operational leadership teams and the Head of SHEQ.
You will shape and lead the SHEQ agenda on site — not just ensuring compliance, but actively driving behavioural change, strengthening safety leadership capability, and embedding a culture where people genuinely look out for one another.

Role Details
Hours: 37.5 per week
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday
Salary: €65,000 – €72,000 DOE
Location: Clonshaugh, with travel to Belfast (approximately one day per week)
What You'll Do
Partnering with the General Manager and leadership team as the accountable lead for site SHEQ performance
Translating the wider SHEQ strategy into practical, site‑specific improvement plans
Maintaining a highly visible presence across operations, coaching and influencing leaders at all levels to strengthen safety culture
Driving consistent implementation of Gist‑wide SHEQ initiatives, while tailoring solutions to local risks
Analysing site‑level data and reports to identify trends, emerging risks and improvement opportunities
Coaching and mentoring operational managers to build their safety leadership capability
Providing expert advice to ensure compliance with legislation, internal standards and best practice
Leading or overseeing incident investigations, ensuring robust root‑cause analysis and sustainable corrective actions
Monitoring audit outcomes and holding leaders accountable for timely completion of actions
Managing emergency planning and business continuity arrangements
Building effective relationships with local H&S representatives and consultation forums
Acting as the primary point of contact for external regulators and agencies
Overseeing site SHEQ documentation, including Safety Statements (ROI)
Supporting the management and defence of insurance claims where required
Wider Business Contribution
Support other sites on an ad‑hoc basis, including occasional travel, as required
Conduct quarterly audits across the network
Collaborate closely with the wider SHEQ team, attending in‑person meetings (including occasional overnight stays)
Keep up to date with regulatory changes and industry best practice
Provide out‑of‑hours support in the event of a serious incident
Maintain continuous professional development
Who You Are
You are a confident, credible and pragmatic SHEQ professional with experience operating in fast‑paced, medium to high‑risk environments.
You bring both technical expertise and the ability to influence operational leaders.
You Will Have
Proven experience in a SHEQ leadership role
NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
Membership of IOSH or a relevant professional body
Strong planning and prioritisation skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management capability
Experience leading incident investigations and driving sustainable corrective actions
A proactive, self‑starting approach with minimal need for day‑to‑day supervision
Flexibility to work across a 24/7 operation and during peak periods
Desirable
Knowledge of the Logistics/Distribution sector
Union experience or equivalent consultation forum
Chartered membership of IOSH (or working towards)
