AMICUS RECRUITMENT has one of the best opportunities for a Brand Manager within the FMCG sector! - Why? It is the company! as simple as that really! the brands; their success within the market and their success- and the Hiring Manager / Marketing Controller is a gem of a manager !
For this role, the key requirements are to develop sustainable brand plans focusing on promotions and visibility of the brands; keep on top of commercials; work with and influence the sales teams- both on and off trade- (easier said than done!) but you must be commercially savvy to succeed.
Whilst it is an exciting place to work- very fast paced- it is extremely demanding but what I really like about the company and culture is the collaborative approach- my client’s culture demands a lot of people but they all row in together-
Another sell to this position ( as mentioned) is the Marketing Controller - she has high energy; drive yet does not want to hand hold someone- will give you a lot of autonomy- her pet hate is disorganization but she will give you a lot of support and will push you to grow in the role- a super person to report too with a lot of experience in the FMCG sector.
The Role
This role will be a full 360 Marketing role; working on high end strategy to POS acivations. In this role you must be strong on numbers; the budgets whilst developing brand plans. You must be commercial and be numbers focused
It is a demanding role; varies by brand- but very much a 360-marketing role. As mentioned, you must be very commercial- for example; think clearly and rationally- is it wortpursuing with a certain campaign? Do I have the budget; can I justify the spend?
A typical day to day will involve the following responsibilities although it will be very much up to you to shape the position- the below are key responsibilities:
* budget management; liaising with the Brand Owners; working on both ATL and BTL Activations- (predominantly BTL) and working closely with the agencies-
* you will have a strong budget across the various brands, but you will be responsible for some of the leading Brands and you must be able to justify spend and the why behind it?
* the Sales guys would very much rely on the Brand Managers so gaining their trust will be important; initially building relationships with the teams- you will meet with the sales teams bi- monthly but they very much rely on the Marketing teams for advice and what is happening in the marketplace- but very much a collaborative approach.
* You will also work closely with the Category- I placed the Head of Category and the chap is a good guy; personable and smart. You will work on sales analysis by channel; analysing profitability and you will be required to work with production and Finance as well.
I spoke to the Marketing Controller following our meeting and she said :This is an extremely diverse and challenging role and strong project management; commercial skills and influencing skills are essential not just to succeed in this role but in the company- you have to be deadline driven; be able to handle pressure and meet deadlines- in turn though you will obtain fantastic exposure!
Most of the brand owners are in the UK so there is some travel over to the UK and you would be required to meet them when they visit Dublin- most of the time it is done over the phone; by mail but on average, you will meet with them once a quarter.
