Position Description
The purpose of the Developing Businesses function is to scale the new businesses in Customer Solutions to enhance the delivery of our Net Zero Strategy.
It consists of four businesses Smart Energy Services, delivering net zero solutions to business customers, E-cars delivering the EV infrastructure and energy to support the deployment of electric vehicles, Superhomes, delivering retrofitting solutions to customers to reduce the carbon footprint in their homes and So Energy, delivering energy products and services e.g. rooftop solar to residential customers in GB to reduce their energy consumption.
Each business is implementing a larger number of projects - e.g. by ****, ecars have **** chargers and Superhomes have to 35,000 homes to deliver.
Similar number of projects need to be delivered in SES and in So Energy.
These project range in complexity and value from small projects of £70k to bigger projects of £10m+.
Having a fit for purpose Project Management Office (PMO) is essential to these businesses to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget and that they are tracked on accordingly to support the delivery.
A big focus of the PMO is to ensure a fit for purpose methodology is deployed, projects have clear schedules, clear budgets are approved, ongoing tracking against schedules / budgets and the consequences of any project delays are recorded to support contract negotiations.
In addition, the PMO will support strategy projects for the Business and the development of a KPI pack for the entire Developing Business function to ensure the management team have the relevant information to understand the performance of the business and make decisions.
Once the function is operating effectively for the new business areas, it may be expanded to support the wider Customer Solutions (CS) function's PMO's requirements.
In the role of PMO Specialist, you will be required to assist in developing a fit for purpose PMO structure and team to support the implementation of this structure throughout the entire Developing Business function to support the delivery of the business.
Key Responsibilities
Support the PMO Manager in developing a fit for purpose project management methodology aligned to the Developing Business needs of the 4 business areas within Developing Business.
Ensuring that the Project Management principles are in line with ESB's overall project management methodology.
Work with the PMO Manager and the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to develop a Management Pack to support the tracking of KPI's and the overall performance of the 4 business lines.
As part of the PMO methodology, roll out the methodology and implement through the team 4 business lines.
Support the PMO Manager in monitoring all projects with the PM's.
Provide regular feedback on all key metrics e.g. alignment to project scope, progress of delivery, financial performance against budget, Risks.
Support the PMO Manager in developing a dashboard for management to empower them to make informed decisions, and collate, analysis the data for the dashboard to provide for an informed discussion.
Provide the relevant information to collate Board approvals, updates and committee paper inputs where required.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
Minimum of 7 years' relevant experience
Strong knowledge of Project Management Methodologies and frameworks
Proven ability to successfully support PMs in the delivery of major capital projects
Strong knowledge health and safety policies and tools.
Experience of and understanding of change management projects
Third level qualification in Engineering, a Project Management discipline or equivalent work experience.
Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification
Desirable
Strong knowledge and experience of capital developments, construction, electrical infrastructure or overhaul projects
Previous experience of working in a PMO
Previous experience of working in a utility company
Proven stakeholder management skills
Location
This position will be based in Fitzwilliam 27, ESB's Head Office, Dublin.
The role may entail travel around Ireland and/or UK.

anchor days per week.

Salary
€69,500 - €81,800 per annum (depending on experience)
