Responsibilities
* Monitor and enforce compliance with health and safety legislation, industry best practices, and internal procedures across all infrastructure project sites.
* Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
* Collaborate with site managers, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to promote safe systems of work.
* Assist in the development, review, and implementation of project-specific Health and Safety Plans, Method Statements, and Risk Assessments (RAMS).
* Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses; produce detailed reports and implement lessons learned.
* Deliver health and safety inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing training for site staff and contractors.
* Maintain accurate health and safety records including inspection logs, incident reports, and training registers.
* Support the roll-out of safety campaigns, initiatives, and continuous improvement programs.
* Liaise with relevant regulatory bodies (e.g., HSA in Ireland) to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
* Assist in the preparation of monthly HSEQ performance reports for senior management.
Requirements
* NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety (or equivalent recognised qualification).
* Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a similar health and safety role within infrastructure, construction, civil engineering, or utilities.
* Strong understanding of Irish health and safety legislation and construction regulations.
* Experience conducting site audits, investigations, and risk assessments.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and report-writing skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and health & safety reporting systems.
* Full clean driving licence and flexibility to travel to project sites.
Desirable
* IOSH membership (Tech IOSH or above).
* Manual Handling, Working at Height, or First Aid certification.
* Knowledge of ISO 45001 Health and Safety Management Systems.
* Experience with infrastructure projects such as roadworks, bridges, water networks, rail, or large-scale utilities.
