Health & Safety Officer – Construction & Manufacturing

Sector: Construction & Manufacturing

Location: South-East Ireland

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Overview

We are hiring a Health & Safety Officer on behalf of a growing construction and manufacturing organisation in the South-East. This role will initially be construction-focused during a major site development phase and will transition into a long-term operational QHSE role once the facility becomes fully operational.

Key Responsibilities

Construction Phase

1. Participate in site meetings, safety briefings, and EHS reviews
2. Provide clear Health & Safety guidance to contractors and site personnel
3. Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
4. Ensure accurate incident reporting and follow-up actions
5. Maintain all statutory and internal safety documentation
6. Monitor site safety performance and report to senior management and QHSE leadership

Operational Phase

7. Drive a proactive and positive Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality culture across the organisation
8. Lead internal and external audits, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement
9. Manage risk assessments, site inspections, and corrective action plans
10. Coordinate training needs, inductions, and contractor management processes
11. Oversee machinery inspections, engineering checks, and safety systems
12. Prepare Health & Safety reports for senior leadership
13. Maintain and manage QHSE systems in line with ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001)
14. Deliver toolbox talks and company-wide safety awareness initiatives

Candidate Profile

15. Experience within construction and/or manufacturing environments
16. Recognised qualification in Occupational Health & Safety
17. Strong working knowledge of Irish QHSE legislation and industry standards
18. Experience with ISO management systems and audit processes
19. Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder-engagement skills
20. Ability to operate effectively at both site and senior management level
