Avista provides community and campus-based services to persons with an Intellectual Disability. The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate clinical competence in Intellectual Disability Nursing and have a broad base of clinical experience in the area of Autism/Behaviour Support. The successful candidate will have undertaken or be willing to undertake the educational and clinical development to go forward for registration as RANP Intellectual Disability: Autism/Behaviour Support with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland as per NMBI advanced practice requirements and standards. The successful candidate will work within the Specialist Team in Positive Behaviour Support across Avista Services to deliver on Avista Strategic Objective on the delivery of specialist services.
Essential
* Be a Registered Nurse Intellectual Disability (RNID) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann) or entitled to be so registered.
* Have a broad base of clinical experience relevant to Autism/Behaviour Support in Intellectual Disability.
* Be eligible to undertake a Master's Degree (or higher) in Nursing or a Master's Degree which is relevant to Intellectual Disability: Autism/Behaviour Support. Master’s programme must be Level 9 on the National Framework of Qualifications (Quality & Qualifications Ireland), or equivalent, including at least three modular components for advanced practice and a clinical practicum.
* Be currently undertaking a Master’s Degree in Nursing (Advanced Practice Pathway) or another relevant level 9 program with the required modular components and clinical practicum.
* Possess a Master’s degree (or higher) in Nursing or a relevant program, meeting the same Level 9 and modular requirements.
* Undertake 500 hours of supervised advanced clinical practice (minimum) to develop clinical competency.
* Be a Registered Nurse Prescriber of medicinal products as per agreed collaborative practice agreement (CPA) or agree to complete the program within 2 years.
* Demonstrate the ability to practice safely and effectively within scope of practice, evidence of continuous professional development.
* Have excellent communication, interpersonal, teamwork and effective caseload management skills.
* Commitment to a person-centred approach, community inclusion and the individual needs of the person.
* Demonstrate ability to work effectively with families and multidisciplinary team.
* Knowledgeable of Health Act 2007 (Care and Support of Residents in Designated Centres for Persons (Children and Adults) With Disabilities) Regulations 2013, Shaping the Future of Intellectual Disability Nursing in Ireland (2018), Sláintecare (2017).
* Full driving licence and access to own transport.
* Applicants should possess Level 2 behavioural competencies of Avista competency framework.
