We are currently recruiting an Actuary for our Claims Analytics Team. Reporting to the Claims Analytics Manager, your role will be to support the actuarial and claims functions within AXA Ireland. You will deliver insights and advanced data analysis across all classes of business. Joining a team of data scientists, data engineers, and actuaries, you will contribute to the delivery of transformative data and AI/ML solutions.
The ideal candidate will have a strong blend of technical, business acumen, and communication skills, with the ability to work closely with stakeholders across the business to achieve AXA's ambitions.
At AXA, we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team, and our customers. You'll work at least 40% of your week away from home, moving to the majority of your working week from September 2025. Away from home means either attendance at one of our office locations, visiting clients, or attending industry events.
Responsibilities
* Oversee the delivery and continuous improvement of actuarial reports and ad hoc analysis, delivering valuable claims insights on various products and processes.
* Lead and mentor a team of trainee or data analysts, fostering their development and ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Proactively manage the demand for data analysis and oversee timely delivery across the team.
* Present trends and analysis to diverse audiences to share insights and support data-driven decision-making.
* Develop and refine statistical models, including both actuarial and machine learning models, to enhance understanding of claim performance and drive process efficiencies. Regularly maintain, recalibrate, and enhance existing models to ensure their effectiveness.
* Play a key role in the development and enhancement of data assets that support advanced analytics and AI/ML initiatives, contributing to the organization's analytical capabilities.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Claims, Technology, Risk, and Pricing, to align goals and drive collective success across the organization.
* Demonstrate flexibility in the role and be open to undertaking additional responsibilities as assigned by the line manager as needed.
Qualifications
* Minimum of 5 years' experience in actuarial, pricing, or data science-related work.
* Qualified or nearly qualified Actuary with the Institute of Actuaries (or equivalent) or possess skills that may be obtained through studies such as statistics, mathematics, or data science.
* Proven experience using SQL, R, or Python, and Machine Learning is required.
* Proficient in using analytical tools for modeling, visualization, data manipulation, and processing.
* Ability to apply analytical problem solving, make recommendations, and implement improvements in a dynamic environment.
* Good understanding of GLMs, machine learning models, and the data science process (feature engineering, modeling, etc.).
* Autonomous, innovative, pragmatic, and capable of applying known or new techniques.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.

* Eligible and authorized to work in Ireland and/or the United Kingdom.
