Operations Manager Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead and coordinate operational activities across our growing B2 B distribution business.
This role is essential in ensuring products move efficiently from suppliers to customers while maintaining excellent service standards and supporting continued business growth.
The Operations Manager will oversee warehouse, transport, and merchandising functions, driving operational excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement throughout the organisation.
Departments Overseen Warehouse Operations, Transport & Distribution, Merchandising Key Responsibilities Implement, monitor, and continuously improve operational processes across warehouse, transport, and merchandising teams.
Contribute to departmental budgeting, cost control, and overall organisational planning.
Identify and resolve quality control issues relating to product handling, storage, and delivery.
Develop and execute operational strategies that enhance efficiency, service quality, and profitability.
Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, transport legislation, and relevant industry standards.
Recruit, lead, and develop operational staff, building a high-performance team culture.
Supply Chain Management Oversee stock control, storage, and product distribution.
Manage procurement planning to maintain optimal stock levels while minimising excess inventory.
Coordinate with suppliers and the sales team to meet customer demand efficiently.
Project Management Lead operational improvement projects such as warehouse layout redesigns, system upgrades, or process enhancements.
Set project plans, monitor productivity, and deliver strategies that maximise ROI.
Human Resources Design and implement operational staffing structures and processes.
Lead recruitment, training, workforce planning, and performance management.
Logistics & Distribution Manage B2 B delivery operations to trade customers, retailers, and contractors.
Evaluate and select cost-effective and reliable transport solutions.
Ensure accurate, timely delivery while managing service quality and cost efficiency.
Experience & Requirements Proven experience as an Operations Manager or similar senior operational role.
Previous experience within building materials, B2 B distribution, or related operational environments is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, transport logistics, and stock control.
Demonstrated ability to manage teams and drive operational improvements.
Solid understanding of health & safety, transport compliance, and industry standards.
