Trinity College Dublin is seeking to appoint a Protocol and Events Lead in the Provost's Office on a specific‑purpose basis to cover a period of maternity leave. The Protocol and Events Lead has special responsibility for events in the Provost's office. Reporting to the Director of the Provost Office and working closely with the Steward to the Provost's House, the Office Administrative Lead, and the Digital Engagement Lead, the successful candidate will be an important appointment within the Office of the Provost.

The individual appointed to this role will have significant event management experience in the physical and virtual environment. They will think strategically and bring ideas for the way new and different types of events can positively impact community engagement. They will be an experienced administrator with significant knowledge about Trinity's traditions, ceremonies and College protocols, or the ability to learn about these quickly. They will be a team player and extremely reliable.

This is a varied and challenging role in a fast‑paced environment that demands attention to detail, initiative, discretion, an ability to manage competing priorities, and excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills. Owing to the nature of this role, flexibility in working hours will be required including some late evening and weekend work to cover special events.


Context


The Protocol and Events Lead is a crucial role within the Office of the Provost. In the area of events, the postholder leads the planning and execution of a dynamic programme for the Provost that has Collegewide impact. This dynamic events programme includes events that are of a ceremonial nature, once‑off celebrations, annual standing events and major College events. In the area of protocols, the postholder acts as a crucial interface for the Office of the Provost with the College Secretary's Office, the Trinity Communications Office and the Estates & Facilities department to operationalise College level protocols in a range of domains. The postholder is also a key individual in the planning and execution of dignitary‑level visits to Trinity, engaging with external agencies such as relevant Government departments, embassies etc. to execute diplomatic protocols in a range of ways. The postholder is a member of the College's Protocol team for this purpose.


Salary


This appointment will be made on the Administrative 2 salary scale (€58,999-€69,325 per annum) at a point in line with current Government pay policy.
