NeoDyne is seeking an experienced SQL Database Engineer to support one of our key client sites on a contract basis. The successful candidate will work closely with the NeoDyne team and play a critical role in delivering expertise across the Mayo based site.
Responsibility will include structured migration of existing databases to the new environment while ensuring business-critical applications continue to operate seamlessly. The role will involve close collaboration with application, infrastructure, and network teams to align with broader IT and cybersecurity initiatives, including network segmentation, within a 24/7 production setting.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, build, and deploy a new Microsoft SQL Server environment aligned with industry best practices
* Define and document database architecture standards, naming conventions, and operational procedures
* Plan and execute structured database migrations from legacy environments
* Ensure continuity of business-critical applications during and after migration
* Collaborate with development teams to implement application changes driven by database updates
* Analyse application data acess patterns and dependencies to inform migration planning
* Align database architecture with infrastructure and network security initiatives
* Implement monitoring, alerting, and performance management solutions
* Troubleshoot and resolve performance, availability, and stability issues
* Manage database security including roles, permissions, access controls, and governance
* Provide operational support within a high-availability 24/7 manufacturing environment
Required Experience & Skills
* Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server including installation, configuration, architecture design, and migration
* Proven experience defining and implementing database standards and best practices
* Experience executing database migrations while maintaining business-critical continuity
* Advanced knowledge of SQL Server performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting
* Strong understanding of database security models and governance controls
* Experience operating within high-availability operational environments
Desired / Nice to Have
* Programming experience, ideally C#, to support application-level changes
* Understanding of application architecture and data access layers
* Experience supporting or modifying applications during database transitions
* Exposure to manufacturing or regulated production environments
