Candidates must meet the following criteria by the latest date of application:
1. Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc.
(a) Eligible applicants will be those who, on the closing date for the competition:
1. Are registered nurses on the active Register of Nurses and Midwives held by An Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland) or are eligible for registration.
2. Are registered in one of the divisions: Intellectual Disability, Children Nurses, or Public Health Nurses of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland, or are entitled to be so registered.
3. In exceptional circumstances, may be registered in another division, assessed on a case-by-case basis.
4. Have at least 1 year of post-registration full-time experience, or an equivalent aggregate, in the division of registration relevant to the application.
5. Have at least 1 year of experience, or an equivalent aggregate, in a specialist area such as Community Nursing, Paediatric, or Disability Care.
6. Have completed a post-registration program of study verified by an education provider, achieving a QQI Level 9 or higher award relevant to the specialist area, equivalent to 60 ECTS or more, in line with the National Council for Nursing and Midwifery standards.
7. Can demonstrate ongoing professional development (CPD) relevant to the specialist area.
8. Possess the ability to practice safely and effectively within their professional scope.
Note 1: For nurses interested in CNS roles with a Level 8 qualification, recognition is valid until September 2026.
(b) Candidates must also possess the requisite knowledge, clinical, leadership, managerial, and administrative skills necessary for the role.
1. Annual registration
(i) Maintain active annual registration on the relevant division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
(ii) Confirm annual registration with the HSE via the Service User Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).
Note: Appointment and continuation in posts requiring statutory registration depend on maintaining this annual registration.
Post Specific Requirement: Demonstrate extensive nursing experience in caring for children with complex disabilities.
