OverviewWe are seeking a motivated and dynamic Education and Outreach Officer to join our team. The person appointed will have a proven record of engagement, teaching, research and innovation. The appointee will be expected to engage in education, research and engagement in the domain of the STEM and STEAM.Main duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to:Develop and deliver STEM interactive workshops for formal and informal activities with schoolchildren of all ages.Develop and deliver CPD and micro-credential programmes.Prepare and run engaging planetarium shows tailored to different audiences.Collaborate with external partners (government agencies, European institutions, universities, industry, NGOs) to co-develop programmes.Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, teachers, and community groups.Develop accessible learning resources, activity packs, and digital content.Provide high-quality visitor experience and customer support at the centre.Participate in training and professional development to stay up to date in science communication and funding landscapes.Adapt science communication to different age groups, cultural backgrounds, and ability levels.Represent the centre at public events, festivals, and exhibitions.Contribute to inclusive outreach strategies that broaden participation in STEM.Assist in identifying suitable European funding calls and partnership opportunities.Contribute to drafting and reviewing project proposals and applications.Support project management, reporting, and dissemination of outcomes.Participate in European networks, collaborations, and knowledge-exchange activities.Candidates must demonstrate the following:Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar roleHonours degree in a relevant science disciplineExcellent project management skillsExcellent analytical and report writing skillsExcellent interpersonal, communication and organisation skillsAbility to work effectively in national multi-partner collaborative projectsFull driving licenceThe following is desirableAdditional qualifications with relevance to the role (e.g. Teaching qualification)Experience of, and a demonstrated understanding of, the Irish education systemCommitment to teaching, programme development and academic innovationExperience of, and commitment to, working in an interdisciplinary settingGood administrative, organisational, teamwork and communication skillsCommitment to equality, diversity and inclusionDuration: 2-year fixed full-time contract.Location: MTU Blackrock Castle Observatory.Application Procedure: All applications to be made online.Citizenship Requirement: Candidates should note that eligibility to compete for posts is open to citizens of the European Economic Area (EEA) or to non-EEA nationals with a valid work permit.
