On behalf of a ConnachtRegion University Hospital in Ireland, Head Medical are seeking a dedicated and experienced
Consultant Anaesthetist
to join their dynamic and growing medical team.

The postholder will contribute to on-call duties, multidisciplinary collaboration, teaching, and continuous improvement within the Anaesthesia Department and the wider Saolta group.
This role is not asubstantive post, but will be a relatively long contract of 12 months covering Maternity Leave

Basic Salary scale between €233,215- €280,531
in accordance with the HSE **** Consultant contract
Additional remuneration for on-call duties and overtime as applicable depending on rota (up to
€19,000)
Highly flexible contract that enables consultants opportunityfor a variety of different work patterns
Up to €12,000 CME and €8,000 research grant
30 days annual leave
10 public holidays
Continuous Medical Education leave
Hours: 37 hours per week, plus on-call supplements
Key Responsibilities
Provide anaesthetic care for
elective and emergency surgical procedures
across multiple specialities (general, orthopaedics, ENT, obstetrics, gynaecology, urology, and day surgery).
Deliver
perioperative care
including pre-assessment, intraoperative anaesthesia, and post-anaesthetic recovery.
Participate in the
acute pain service
and support regional anaesthesia techniques.
Provide
obstetric anaesthesia
services, including epidural, spinal, and general anaesthesia for labour and caesarean sections.
Contribute to
critical care
management in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and support for emergency airway management, trauma, and resuscitation.
Participate in the
24-hour anaesthetic on-call rota
.
Collaborate with surgical, ICU, and emergency teams to ensure safe and efficient perioperative and critical care services.
Requirements to Apply
Full registration (or eligibility for registration) with the
Irish Medical Council (IMC) – Specialist Division
in the speciality of Anaesthesiology.
Extensive post-graduate Consultant experience in Anaesthesiology
Completion of EU or UK specialist training (CCST or equivalent).
