Key Responsibilities
Management of the Electrical Systems under your control.
Support the engineering requirements through managing and liaising with key project stakeholders (client design team, main contractor, suppliers, sub-contractors, etc.).
Familiarisation with Design/IFC specifications and drawings to understand the project scope. Oversee the coordination process to transform design information into full installation drawings by BIM personnel, ensuring specification compliance and schedule priority. Generate/manage RFIs, Technical Queries, etc.
Management of site safety in conjunction with the Project Manager and Mercury Safety Advisor, including setup, management, and closing out of the safety file as part of the management team.
Management of site QA in conjunction with Mercury QA Manager, including setup, management and close out of the file.
Management of project schedule in conjunction with Mercury Project Manager, consulting Engineer and client requirements, ensuring engineering activities do not impact the schedule (e.g., procurement).
Management of all aspects associated with your package including:
Mercury Electrical Team
Sub-contractors
Material deliveries and goods receipting
Plant and Equipment
Variations
Valuations
Management of day-to-day site operations
Ensure Mercury policies and procedures are followed closely
Management of sub-contractor activities including tracking progress against schedule and manpower levels, ensuring information flow for progress and weekly meetings
Ensure works are installed in accordance with project specifications and QA plan
Assist the Installation Package team to manage quality needs on site, providing guidance to ensure compliance with all relevant standards/codes and specifications. Manage construction work packs from development to handover, with onsite support for the construction management team.
Manage the Mercury “In Progress” snagging system and ensure weekly punch list distribution to subcontractors
Issue direct labour hours and sub-contractor hours for time tracking
Attendance at site meetings, internal project reviews, engineering reviews, planning and coordination meetings, and handover meetings
Close out of all project deliverables including Final Account, O&M Manuals, Punch List, Safety File, QA File, relocations, and project plan with project team support
Issue weekly cost reports and manage information reporting to support activity targets and deadlines
Provide engineering task logs and weekly progress reporting
Provide external weekly progress reports highlighting risks, delays, and design shortages
Management of technical submittals and approvals
Schedule material deliveries to align with project schedule and manage procurement using Engineering Materials Report (EMR)
Maintain a weekly project photographic diary
Prepare Sub-contract and Supplier Tender Packages in conjunction with Project QS
Assess Sub-contract and Supplier Tender returns for technical compliance with design intent
Evaluate and promote new engineering practices to enhance delivery time
Manage BIM priorities to support team in development of modular concepts and Isometrics, release for construction, and validation of materials/assets in the model
Support and coach junior engineers on the project team
All other duties relevant to the role
Essential Criteria
5+ years’ experience working with a recognised Mechanical/Electrical contractor
Excellent organizational and planning skills
Ability to work as part of a team
Excellent negotiation, problem-solving and decision-making skills
Proficient in systems software related to Engineering functions
Excellent IT skills
Familiar with Project/Primavera planning software and CAD/BIM process
Ability to manage workload and prioritise
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work on own initiative
