Job Summary:
As theLead Electrical Pre-Construction & EstimatingEngineer, you will spearhead the pre-construction phase for complex, mission-critical modular power and control systems for global data centres, renewable energy and industrial process facilities.
This role involves preparing commercial and technical tender return packages, formulating accurate cost estimates, consulting with clients on design options, coordinating with various suppliers and sub-contractors and training junior team members.As a lead estimator, you will work closely with the operations departments to ensureall project requirements, design and budget information is handed over in a complete manner and provide estimating and technical support if required throughout the project life cycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop detailed electrical & mechanical cost estimations for modular OSM projects to clients such as Tire 1 Contractors, Consultant Engineers and OEM's
Provide technical leadership and training to junior team members
Consult with clients on technical designs, recommending cost-effective and efficient solutions based on their project requirements.
Estimate material costs and labour requirements while ensuring that the proposed designs align with client budgets and expectations.
Regularly engage with suppliers to source materials at competitive prices and occasionally visit suppliers to build strong relationships and understand the supply chain.
Collaborate with internal teams such as engineering, production, and procurement to verify costs, specifications, and timelines
Review client specifications and offer advice on how to optimize materials and designs for cost-efficient modular construction
Provide pre construction and conceptual designs for clients when required as part of tender packages
Ensure all costs, materials, and design proposals are fully compliant with relevant industry standards and company procedures
Maintain accurate and organized records of tenders, quotes, and client interactions on sales database
Contribute to the preparation of sales reports and accurate management of CRM database
Proven track record of managing multi-disciplinary tenders from initial customer engagement to winning in the Data Centre, Renewables or Process sectors.
Ability to communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
Solid understanding of industrial electrical system, LV/MV Switchgear, UPS system would be a distinct advantage.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team while providing support and guidance to junior team members.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to adhere to deadlines and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
Proficiency in Excel, AutoCAD, and SAP/CRM, or a willingness to undergo training to bridge any skills gaps
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail to ensure proposals are presented in a professional manner.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
5+ years in electrical estimating and pre-construction, with at least 3 years specifically within mission-critical Data Centre, Renewables or Process industries.
Familiarity with industry players, standards, electrical codes, and building regulations is desirable.
