Offer description

Senior HR Specialist - Recruitment focussed (Tech) — 10-Month Maternity Contract
Galway City | Hybrid (2 days in office - Tuesdays and Thursdays)
This is a 10-month fixed-term contract covering maternity leave within the HR function of a technology business based in Galway City. The role sits within a small on-site team and reports into the Chief People Officer, who is based in the US. The successful candidate will take ownership of day-to-day HR activity across the full employee lifecycle, with a particular emphasis on recruitment. A strong volume of recruitment is anticipated during the contract period, with approval expected for between 20 and 25 new roles - so this suits someone who is equally comfortable in a generalist HR seat as they are running a busy hiring desk.
What's on offer

Salary: €50,000–€60,000
Health insurance
Pension
Employee wellbeing programme
Employee recognition scheme

About the business
Our client is a technology business operating on a global scale, with a small local team based in Galway. The Irish office works closely with a wider international team, including HR colleagues and senior leaders in the US. The business provides software and technology solutions to organisations across multiple sectors.
The role
This is a generalist HR role covering the full employee lifecycle for the duration of the contract. The successful person will be the primary HR point of contact in the Galway office, working closely with local employees and managers, coordinating with US-based hiring managers and HR colleagues, and managing a strong volume of recruitment activity alongside the broader HR remit. Day-to-day support is available from an external HR consultancy and a global HR team in the US.
What you'll be doing
Recruitment

Manage multiple open roles simultaneously, from briefing through to offer
Write and post job specs, screen applications, and coordinate interviews across time zones
Act as the day-to-day point of contact for hiring managers, candidates, and any external recruiters involved
Conduct interviews and support hiring managers through the process
Lead early careers activity, including open days at Galway universities and coordination of the intern and graduate pipeline
Manage recruitment administration through Workday ATS

Employee Lifecycle

Own onboarding and offboarding end to end — documentation, induction scheduling, new hire check-ins, and exit coordination
Liaise with IT and office management to ensure equipment and system access is handled at both stages
Keep all employee records and lifecycle updates accurate and up to date in Workday

Compliance

Keep HR practices and documentation in line with employment legislation and internal policies
Maintain employee records to GDPR standards
Support managers with employee relations matters
Assist with policy reviews and compliance reporting as needed

Employee Engagement

Plan and coordinate monthly engagement events and office activities
Facilitate visits from the US team
Assist with engagement surveys, action planning, and internal communications
Support wellbeing and recognition initiatives

What we're looking for
Essential

4+ years of experience in an HR generalist or talent acquisition role
Hands‑on experience managing multiple recruitment processes at the same time
Workday experience (ATS and HRIS)
Solid working knowledge of Irish employment legislation
Confident and direct communication style - particularly when managing US-based stakeholders remotely, including coordinating across time zones and holding hiring managers accountable to interview processes
Comfortable making decisions independently and working without close day-to-day supervision
Strong administration skills and attention to detail

Desirable

Background in technology or software businesses
Experience with early careers, graduate, or intern recruitment programmes
Familiarity with AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude) to support job spec writing and role briefing across unfamiliar technical disciplines
CIPD qualification or equivalent
