AMF Consulting is partnering with a leading global medical device organisation to recruit a Senior Electrical Engineer to support the design and development of advanced cardiac ablation technologies.
This is a technically challenging and highly visible role, offering the opportunity to work on life-changing medical technologies while leading complex engineering projects and mentoring junior engineers. You will collaborate closely with mechanical, software, quality and manufacturing teams to drive products from concept through to production in a highly regulated environment.
The Role
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in the development, integration and optimisation of complex electrical systems used in next-generation cardiac therapies.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and contribute to the design, development and testing of electrical systems and circuits for medical devices, ensuring compliance with applicable standards (e.g. IEC 60601)
Perform system-level integration of hardware, firmware and software components
Develop detailed specifications, schematics and PCB layouts, working closely with cross-functional teams
Design, develop and qualify functional and safety test systems at both product and PCB level
Support verification and validation activities to ensure product safety, compliance and performance
Conduct risk assessments, root cause investigations and failure analysis on electrical issues and field‑returned products
Manage product changes and change control activities, ensuring accurate and compliant design documentation (BOMs, drawings, specifications)
Partner with manufacturing, reliability and supplier teams to optimise designs for scalability, yield and cost efficiency
Support and, where appropriate, own CAPA activities through to resolution
Provide technical troubleshooting support to manufacturing and key suppliers
Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and high‑performing engineering culture
Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends and best practices in electrical engineering
Key Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with 4+ years’ electrical design experience

Advanced degree with 2+ years’ relevant electrical design experience
Preferred Experience
Experience working within medical devices or other highly regulated industries
Strong background in analog, high‑voltage and/or RF circuit design
Experience with system‑level integration of hardware and firmware
Hands‑on experience designing and debugging PCB assemblies
Experience developing hardware test systems for design verification or production testing
Solid understanding of EMC design and testing principles (IEC 60601)
Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing and Test (DFM / DFT) principles
Experience with Six Sigma, Lean or structured problem‑solving methodologies
Proficiency with analysis, simulation and PCB design tools (e.g. MATLAB, SPICE, Altium, Cadence, Minitab)
Strong technical documentation skills (specifications, test plans, reports)
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team‑oriented mindset
