Bantry Credit Union is a progressive, community-based financial co-operative.
Operating from two offices in Bantry and Castletownbere, we have over 13,500 members and manage assets of nearly €100 million.
Finance Manager Role
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Finance Manager will oversee all aspects of the credit union's finance function and will contribute as part of the Management Team to the strategic and operational management of the credit union.
Main responsibilities
Manage the credit union's daily, weekly and monthly financial record-keeping and bank reconciliations processes
Oversee core finance activities including payroll, pensions administration, accounts payable, banking and general ledger management
Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts and financial reports
Prepare and submit financial returns to the Central Bank, Revenue Commissioners and other external agencies
Manage the credit union's annual audit process, including preparation of documentation and responding to audit queries
Enhance, implement and oversee the credit union's policies, procedures and systems of internal controls in all aspects of the finance function
Monitor metrics/KPIs for measuring the credit union's performance across all operational areas
Maintain asset registers including fixed and IT assets
Continuously review the credit union's cost base with a view to identifying efficiencies
Act as line manager for members of the finance team
In conjunction with the CEO, prepare annual budgets and monitor expenditure against approved budgets
In conjunction with the CEO and the credit union's independent investment advisors, manage the credit union's investment portfolio
Contribute to financial planning and strategy development aligned with the credit union's strategic plan
Qualifications, experience and skills
Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA or equivalent)
A minimum of three years' post-qualification experience
Strong analytical, financial and business acumen skills
Proficient in ICT skills across a range of applications and platforms
Experience supporting audits and engaging with external stakeholders such as auditors, government agencies and regulators
Leadership skills and people development skills
Strong regulatory and risk awareness
Excellent communication, interpersonal and team-player skills
Strong report writing, administrative and organisational skills
Experience in the financial services industry would be an advantage but is not essential
