Job Title: Anaesthetic Staff Nurse

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
1. Participate as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team.
2. Facilitate and deliver quality patient care through efficient time and resource management, demonstrating leadership and clinical expertise.
3. Advance current nursing practice in accordance with NMBI guidelines.
4. Engage in ongoing professional development in line with current and future service demands.
5. Communicate effectively with the Clinical Coordinator and provide support as required.
6. Manage daily operational requirements and collaborate closely with other departments.
7. Ensure the safe operation of equipment and the efficient management of supplies.
8. Adhere to internal controls and participate in all regulatory and mandatory hospital survey processes.
Clinical Responsibilities
9. Adhere to The Professional Scope of Practice Framework (NMBI 2000).
10. Conduct individual patient assessments and develop care plans.
11. Ensure patients receive optimal care following all nursing and hospital policies.
12. Delegate appropriately based on the skill level and knowledge of staff.
13. Maintain accurate and timely professional documentation.
14. Support department problem-solving and system improvement initiatives.
15. Follow standard precautions, including the appropriate use of protective barriers and disposal of infectious waste.
Interdepartmental Collaboration
16. Maintain strong relationships with other departments, physicians, patients, and families.
17. Communicate with the relevant Clinical Coordinator as needed.
18. Demonstrate the ability to delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively.
19. Participate in ongoing consultation and collaboration to maximize patient outcomes.
20. Engage in unit-based and interdepartmental quality improvement activities.
21. Show willingness to assist co-workers whenever needed.
22. Be cross-trained and available for allocation to PACU as required.

26. Act as a preceptor or supervisor to students and newly appointed staff.

29. Support the clinical induction of new nursing and support staff.

33. Maintain flexibility to meet hospital needs, including floating to other departments as necessary.
Person Specification
Qualifications
34. NMBI Registered General Nurse licence.
35. BLS & ACLS certification.
Experience
36. Minimum of 1 year post-registration experience in an acute hospital setting, preferably in Anaesthetics.
37. A management course is desirable.
38. Proven clinical ability and strong communication skills.
