Overall Responsibility
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Purchasing/Procurement Specialist is responsible for material planning, procurement and purchasing to meet the organisations operational requirements.
This also includes the optimisation of inventory levels along with ensuring the timely delivery of components to fulfil customer orders.
Main Responsibilities
* Plan, prepare and process purchase orders in accordance with company policies and procedures. Coordinate activities with production scheduling and planning.
* Resolution of issues related to pricing, delivery and quality.
* Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing and other essential data.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders (design, engineering, finance & logistics).
* Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
* Track and monitor supplier performance to optimize effectiveness.
* Change inventory levels, lead times, and costs.
* Proactively work to resolve discrepancies as they occur.
* Organize and manage multiple priorities and events simultaneously.
* Assist in developing and implementing procurement policies and procedures.
* Comply with all company policies and procedures and safety requirements
* Generate and distribute routine reporting to relevant departments.
General
* Complies with all company policies and procedures and safety requirements.
* Ensures compliance of procurement activities with government regulations, company guidelines and policies (e.g. SOP’s, Employee Handbook, etc.) as well as contractual agreements.
* Availability to work flexible hours as needed.
* Possess problem analysis and problem resolution ability at both a strategic and a functional level.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

Specific qualifications include
* Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management/business or a related field relevant to the role or the ability to demonstrate competency through past working experience in a relevant area.
* IT knowledge (Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
* Working knowledge of ERP an advantage.
* Disciplined approach to work (standardized, structured) and must be proactive in implementing positive change.
