Operational Technology Analyst – Limerick, Ireland
As part of the Automation Team, the OT Analyst will support and maintain the Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure at the J&J Vision Care site in Limerick, ensuring the reliability, security, and compliance of automation and control systems. A key responsibility of this role is to act as the site’s single point of contact (SPOC) for OT cybersecurity, ensuring alignment with Johnson & Johnson’s global cybersecurity policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
Operational Technology Support
Provide technical support for OT systems including PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, and data historians.
Collaborate with automation and engineering teams to ensure reliable and efficient operation of manufacturing systems.
Maintain documentation for OT architecture, system configurations, and change management.
Cybersecurity Responsibilities
Lead the implementation and monitoring of cybersecurity controls for OT assets, including network segmentation, access control, and patch management.
Conduct risk assessments, support incident response, and coordinate remediation activities.
Maintain an accurate OT asset inventory and support vulnerability management processes.
Ensure compliance with J&J cybersecurity policies, GxP, SOX, and 21 CFR Part 11.
Cybersecurity Standards & Directives
Familiarity with and application of the following is expected:
NIS2 Directive – EU-wide regulation enhancing cybersecurity for critical infrastructure and OT systems, with strict risk management, incident reporting, and supply chain security requirements.
IEC 62443 – International standard for securing Industrial Automation and Control Systems (IACS), including defense-in-depth strategies and risk-based security levels.
NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) – For identifying, protecting, detecting, responding to, and recovering from cyber threats.
Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) – EU regulation complementing NIS2 by ensuring cybersecurity throughout the lifecycle of digital products used in OT environments.
Collaboration & Compliance
Liaise with global cybersecurity, IT, and quality teams to ensure integrated and compliant OT operations.
Support internal and external audits related to OT and cybersecurity.
Promote cybersecurity awareness and training among site personnel.
Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Automation, Computer Science, or related field.
3+ years of experience in OT/automation systems within a manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with industrial control systems (ICS), network protocols, and system integration.
Understanding of cybersecurity principles and regulatory requirements in a GxP environment.
Preferred
Experience with cybersecurity frameworks such as NIS2, IEC 62443, or NIST CSF.
Certifications such as GICSP, CISSP, or ISA/IEC 62443.
Experience in medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Effective communication and stakeholder engagement.
Ability to work independently and manage cross-functional initiatives.
